About the project

The transformation

On this project, the patio was showing significant moss growth, widespread black spot and years of built-up contamination. We always begin with a full inspection to assess the condition of the surface and determine the safest and most effective restoration process.

Black spot is one of the most stubborn forms of organic staining found on natural stone. Before cleaning begins, we identify the extent of the contamination so the correct treatment can be used to break it down safely and effectively. Using specialist treatments and professional surface cleaning equipment, we remove moss, dirt, black spot and other organic contamination from the patio, restoring the surface without causing unnecessary damage to the stone. Once the patio is fully cleaned, we apply Chiltern EverGuard™. The treatment penetrates into the substrate of the stone, killing organic spores below the surface while providing 12–24 months of protection against algae, moss, lichens and black spot regrowth. With the cleaning complete, the natural colour and texture of the stone are revealed once again. Fine detail, colour variation and the original finish are restored, leaving the surface clean, vibrant and protected.

The completed patio has been transformed from a heavily contaminated surface into a clean, bright outdoor space. With long-lasting protection now in place, it will continue to improve over the coming weeks and remain cleaner for longer.
