About the project

The transformation

The challenge

A relatively new natural stone patio at this Marlow home had already developed heavy moss, green algae and the early signs of black spot. The homeowner wanted more than a short-lived pressure wash: they wanted the paving cleaned carefully and protected against rapid organic regrowth.

Our approach

Chiltern Surface Co completed a controlled patio clean across approximately 28m², treating the black spot and organic contamination before applying Chiltern EverGuard™ for longer-term protection. After seeing the result, the client also asked us to return for a complete gutter clean to the main property and a separate outbuilding.

The result

The clean revealed substantially more of the paving’s natural colour and texture, removed the visible moss, algae and early black spot, and gave the homeowner a longer-term maintenance solution with 12–24 month surface protection.

Step by step

How this project was restored

Every project follows a careful, surface-specific process — here’s exactly how we approached this one.

  1. Black Spot Assessment — Marlow
    01

    Black Spot Assessment

A close inspection of the joints and surface identified established black spot and lichen — a biological problem, not just surface dirt — so the treatment could be matched to it.

  2. Deep Clean and Surface Restoration — Marlow
    02

    Deep Clean and Surface Restoration

Controlled mechanical cleaning lifted the moss, algae and ingrained contamination, bringing back the natural colour of the sandstone.

  3. Chiltern EverGuard™ Protection — Marlow
    03

    Chiltern EverGuard™ Protection

With the paving clean and dry, Chiltern EverGuard™ was applied to help inhibit the return of moss, algae and black spot for a typical 12–24 months.

  4. The Restored Surface — Marlow

    The Restored Surface

Edges and coping details were finished cleanly, leaving a bright, even patio ready to enjoy.
