Solar Panel Cleaning · 10 towns
East Berkshire runs from the Thames at Cookham and Maidenhead down to the pines around Ascot and the estates of Bracknell. We clean arrays across it with de-ionised water and soft brushes, from the ground, using no chemicals.

Covered from Marlow
Our Berkshire work begins just over the bridge from Marlow at Bisham and follows the river down through Cookham and Maidenhead to Windsor. South of the Thames the county changes: pine woods and heathland around Ascot, and large planned towns at Bracknell, Wokingham and Reading. Each of those settings leaves something different on a solar panel, and we plan the clean around it.
The Thames corridor
Between Hurley and Windsor the Thames runs through a broad, low valley, and homes near it share the same conditions. Mist and damp air linger after rain and on autumn mornings, so panels stay wet for longer, and the lower frame, where water collects, is the first place moss gets a hold.
The river brings birds in numbers too. Pigeons, gulls and crows perch on ridges, chimneys and aerials, and their droppings are the most stubborn deposit on solar glass, because rain will not shift them once they have dried. They come off with patience rather than force: de-ionised water, a soft brush and time for the mark to soften, never a scraper.
Pine and heath
Around Ascot, Sunninghill and the edges of Bracknell the landscape turns to pine woods, heathland and large wooded plots. Pine pollen arrives in late spring as a fine yellow dust that coats cars, windowsills and solar panels alike, and it clings to glass more readily than most.
Needles and small cones also find their way onto arrays, catching in the gaps between panels and along the bottom frame, where they hold moisture and begin to break down. Tall conifers can shade part of an array for much of the day as well. We clear the gaps and edges, and we will tell you if a tree is shading the glass, although pruning it is work for a tree surgeon.
Planned towns
Bracknell grew as a post-war New Town, and Reading, Wokingham and Maidenhead have all added large estates since. Roofs on these streets are usually simple, regular pitches with houses set close together, so access, rather than the roof itself, is the main thing to plan.
Ten towns we serve
Each town page explains how its own streets, trees and setting affect the panels on its roofs. The notes below are a short guide to what sets each place apart.

Victorian brick terraces through to post-war family homes, with Thames-side damp and mature gardens keeping panels near the river slow to dry.

Older brick streets and suburban roads between the river and the Great Park, where trees and birdlife leave arrays marked between showers.
Learn Moreabout Solar Panel Cleaning in Windsor
Pine, heath and large wooded plots bring heavy spring pollen and needles lodged along frames, with tall trees often shading part of an array.
Learn Moreabout Solar Panel Cleaning in Ascot
A low-lying village beside the Thames and its commons, where damp air slows drying and open ground brings plenty of bird traffic overhead.
Learn Moreabout Solar Panel Cleaning in Cookham
A small village on the river beneath wooded slopes, so arrays here lose the sun for part of the day and moss settles along the bottom edge.
Learn Moreabout Solar Panel Cleaning in Bisham
Between the river and open fields, panels meet Thames damp from one direction and wind-blown dust from the farmland in the other.
Learn Moreabout Solar Panel Cleaning in Hurley
Village roads and newer estates within reach of open Thames Valley countryside, giving arrays a seasonal mix of pollen and fine dust.
Learn Moreabout Solar Panel Cleaning in Twyford
A large town of Victorian terraces and later suburbs, where busy roads add traffic film to the bird marks and pollen on rooftop panels.
Learn Moreabout Solar Panel Cleaning in Reading
Planned New Town neighbourhoods and newer estates with closely set houses, where panels are best reached from the gardens and drives below.
Learn Moreabout Solar Panel Cleaning in Bracknell
A historic centre ringed by growing new developments, with mature trees and green space dropping leaves and pollen onto roof arrays across the town.
Learn Moreabout Solar Panel Cleaning in WokinghamThe method
Every Berkshire array gets the same pure-water clean. The site visit decides where we set up and what needs the most attention.
We look at where the array sits, what overhangs it, where birds perch and how much room there is below for a pole, then explain the plan in plain terms.
Mains water passes through a de-ionising unit before it reaches the brush, so it carries no minerals and the panels can be left to dry without streaks.
Working the pole from the garden or drive, the soft brush lifts pollen, traffic film and droppings, softening hardened marks with water rather than force.
Needles, leaves and moss lodged between panels and along the bottom frame are removed, so rainwater can run off the array freely afterwards.
Once the glass has dried we check the array again and flag anything we noticed with the fixings or the seals, for you or your installer to follow up.
Why us
The Thames-side villages sit just across the river from our Marlow base, and the rest of the county's eastern half is well within reach.
De-ionised water does the cleaning, so nothing but water runs into your gutters, ponds, lawns or the river below the house.
Arrays are reached from the ground wherever access allows, so nobody stands on the panels or walks across the roof around them.
We tell you what cleaning removes and what it will not change, and we never quote a percentage gain in output.

Questions
Damp is the main reason. Air off the river keeps the glass wet for longer, which lets dust stick and lets moss establish along the bottom frame. Riverside homes also see more birds, and droppings are the hardest deposit to shift.
No, it does not damage the glass, but it forms a sticky yellow film in late spring that rain tends to smear rather than clear. A gentle clean once the main fall has passed removes it.
Usually. The pole can work from a small garden, a drive or occasionally a neighbour's side with their permission. Where there is genuinely no safe spot on the ground, we say so at the site visit.
Once a year suits most arrays. Panels under pines or garden trees, near the river's birdlife or set at a low angle can benefit from a second visit, because those are the settings where deposits build fastest.
No. High pressure can force water past the seals and wear the surface of the glass. We use soft brushes and de-ionised water only, with no detergent added at any stage.
