How we approach a roof
We use the lowest possible pressure and the least amount of chemical necessary to achieve the right result. This may sometimes require additional applications or a more considered process, but we believe that is always preferable to taking the quickest or most aggressive approach. Our priority is to achieve the best possible result while protecting the surface and surrounding environment.

Clay, concrete and slate all weather differently, so we look at what is actually on your roof before deciding how to clean it. The method and the pressure are set at the site visit.
The moss is taken off by hand first, then the roof is soft washed at low pressure and Chiltern EverGuard™ is applied. It takes longer than going at it with pressure, and we think that is the right trade.

Step one
The Moss Comes Off By Hand
Thick moss is taken off the roof physically. Every clump is worked loose by hand and scraper, tile by tile, working down the slope.
It is the slow part of the job, and we do it before anything is sprayed — a treatment applied over thick moss leaves the moss where it is.

Do you clear the gutters afterwards?
Yes, as standard. Everything we take off the roof washes into the gutters, so leaving them full would simply move the problem. We clear the run and check the downpipes before we finish.
Can a roof be cleaned in winter?
Moss removal can be carried out through the year. We apply Chiltern EverGuard™ in settled, frost-free conditions, so in hard weather we'll carry out the removal and come back to treat.
