Patio Cleaning · 10 towns
Berkshire's patios range from riverside terraces on the Thames to gardens under pine near Ascot and the paving of its Victorian railway towns. We clean each to suit its stone and setting, treat black spot and apply Chiltern EverGuard™.

Patio Cleaning, county-wide
Across the river from our Marlow base, Berkshire offers three quite different settings for a patio: the damp villages along the Thames, the wooded, sandy country around Ascot and the larger towns that grew with the railways and after the war. Each shapes what grows on the paving and how it should be cleaned, so the setting is the first thing we look at.
The northern edge
The Thames forms much of Berkshire's northern boundary, and from Hurley and Bisham down through Cookham, Maidenhead and Windsor the riverside settlements sit on low, level ground. Damp air comes off the water, mist settles on still mornings, and gardens near the river can stay wet for most of an autumn day. Paving there greens up sooner than the same stone a few miles inland.
Being close to the river changes how a patio is cleaned as well as how often. Loosened growth and rinse water are directed into drains or contained, never left to run into the river, a ditch or a pond, and treatments are applied with the water's edge in mind.
Heath and pine
Towards Ascot, Bracknell and Wokingham the landscape changes. Much of this corner sits on lighter, sandier soil, with heath, pine and birch among the broadleaf trees. Pine needles collect in joints and corners, hold moisture against the paving and break down slowly into a mat that moss roots into readily.
Plots here are often large, with mature trees casting long shadows across part of a terrace while the rest lies open. A single patio can therefore carry heavy growth along one side and almost none on the other, and the clean is weighted accordingly rather than applied evenly to everything.
Paving by era
Berkshire's towns grew at different speeds, and their patios record it. Reading, Maidenhead and Windsor each gained streets of Victorian and Edwardian brick houses after the railway came, many with compact rear gardens that see only part of the day's sun. Bracknell was planned as a New Town after the war, and newer developments and renovated gardens across the county favour sandstone and porcelain.

Most of the care in a Berkshire garden goes into what surrounds the paving and where the water ends up.
At a free site visit we identify the paving, note the shaded strips and damp margins, and find the drains, gullies and soakaways so we know where the water will go.
Planting, lawns, ponds and doors beside the paving are covered or shielded, and needles and leaves are swept out of the joints before any water is used.
Each part of the surface is cleaned at the lowest pressure that suits it, with the dirty water collected or sent into drains rather than across the lawn.
Black spot and stubborn growth receive a specialist application. Joints that have opened or washed out are refilled with sand, so slabs sit firmly and weeds have less room.
Chiltern EverGuard™ goes on once the patio is clean, helping to reduce regrowth. We point out any spots, such as deep shade under trees, where growth is likely to show first.
Our approach
Our Marlow base sits just across the Thames from Bisham, so the riverside villages of Berkshire are a short journey for our team.
Rinse water and loosened growth are controlled throughout, which matters in gardens that drain towards the Thames, a pond or a ditch.
Concrete, sandstone, limestone and porcelain are each cleaned in their own way, with the method agreed only after we have seen your paving.
We are fully insured, explain what the clean can and cannot achieve, and follow every visit with a clear quotation before anything is booked.

Questions
They gather in joints and corners, hold water against the paving and rot down slowly into a fine, damp layer that moss roots into easily. Clearing needles regularly between cleans makes a noticeable difference to how quickly growth returns.
Yes. We check where the rinse water will go before starting, direct it into drains or contain it, and keep treatments away from banks, ponds and ditches throughout the work.
It depends on its condition. Concrete flags usually respond well and tolerate a little more pressure than natural stone. If slabs are cracked, rocking or badly worn, we will tell you, because that is a repair question rather than a cleaning one.
In most cases it can be significantly reduced. Black spot is a lichen rooted in the stone, so it is treated with a specialist application rather than pressure. Heavily marked paving may need a second visit, and very old marking can leave faint traces.
That depends on shade, damp and use. The Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment typically helps reduce regrowth for between 12 and 24 months; damp riverside and heavily shaded gardens tend towards the shorter end, open and sunny ones towards the longer.
Yes. Terraces with steps, ponds, outdoor kitchens and several levels are worked in order from the top down, so water and dirt are not carried back onto areas already cleaned.
