Block Paved Driveway Cleaning in Maidenhead
An overgrown block paved driveway in Maidenhead, cleared by hand, deep cleaned, treated with Chiltern EverGuard™, re-sanded with polymeric sand and compacted.
Patio Cleaning · Berkshire
Maidenhead's houses span Victorian and Edwardian streets, post-war family homes and recent builds, so its patios do too. We identify the paving, clean it at the lowest pressure that works, treat black spot and finish with Chiltern EverGuard™.

Our approach
Paving beside the back door, the strip under a table and the corner behind the shrubs rarely look the same, because each dries, shades and wears differently. At a free site visit we walk the whole paved area with you, identify the material and explain which method we would use on each part, and why.

Maidenhead gardens
Maidenhead grew quickly once the Great Western Railway arrived, and the Victorian and Edwardian streets of that period still sit alongside post-war family houses and more recent developments around Furze Platt, Pinkneys Green and Cox Green. Older gardens tend to hold weathered sandstone or concrete flags, while newer ones are often laid in porcelain or smooth-cut stone.
The Thames runs along the eastern edge of the town, and between river air, mature gardens and tree-lined roads, a lot of paving here stays damp long after rain. That is where algae and black spot settle in, usually along fences, under shrubs and on the side of the house that sees least sun.
At the back door
The first metre of paving outside patio or bi-fold doors is the part everyone sees and the part that sits closest to the house. Frames, seals, air bricks and the internal floor level are all within reach of the spray, so this strip is cleaned with controlled water and a working direction that carries dirt away from the building, not towards it.
Done well, the clean finishes neatly at the building line, and the threshold looks as finished as the open terrace beyond it.
Sandstone and limestone
Indian sandstone is warm-toned and riven, and the variation between its slabs is part of its appeal. Under years of algae and garden dirt those tones flatten into one dull shade; cleaned gently, they return. We do not try to make every slab match, because genuine colour differences and old weathering belong to the stone.
Limestone is softer and paler. It is cleaned slowly and at low pressure, and any treatment is chosen for its compatibility with the stone. Marks that have etched into the surface are kept separate from dirt that will lift, and we tell you which is which before we start.
Pots and planters
Move a large pot after a summer in one spot and you will usually find a ring beneath it. Some of that is algae and fine soil that will clean away. Some is mineral or rust staining from the container, or from water draining through it, and that may only fade rather than disappear.
Drains and falls
Even a patio that looks level has a fall, and the wash water follows it towards a linear drain, a gully or the lawn. We plan the order of work around that route so dirty run-off is not dragged back across paving that is already clean, and so loosened debris is collected rather than left sitting in the drainage channel.
Larger terraces wrapped around an extension often feed several sections into one outlet, which is where this planning matters most.
How it runs
The sequence is the same on every patio we clean. What changes is the method inside each step, which depends on the paving and what is growing on it.
We identify the paving, check the joints, note the black spot, planter marks and drainage, and look at thresholds and steps before recommending a method and explaining the result to expect.
You receive a written recommendation and a defined scope, covering which areas are included, how each will be cleaned and anything, such as failed pointing, that cleaning will not put right.
The terrace is cleaned at the lowest pressure that works on that material, in an order that keeps run-off moving away from finished areas and away from the house.
Black spot is treated with a specialist application rather than pressure. Where jointing has washed out or broken down, the joints are re-sanded so the paving is stable underfoot.
Once the patio is clean, the Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment is applied to target the spores and residual growth left in the surface, helping to slow the return of algae and black spot.
Before you book
Cleaning makes a marked difference to stained, green or slippery paving, and we restore the original appearance as far as the condition allows. It does not repair the paving itself.
Why us
Sandstone, limestone, porcelain and concrete each have their own approach, decided after we have seen the paving rather than before.
We treat the lichen itself with a specialist application, rather than relying on pressure that would scar the stone and leave the growth behind.
Applied once the patio is clean. Protection typically lasts between 12 and 24 months, depending on shade, moisture, the paving and how it is looked after.
Our operatives are fully insured, and we have worked in Maidenhead, so the town's mix of older and newer gardens is familiar ground.
Nearby
We also clean patios in the places that surround the town, including Bray and Holyport to the south, Cox Green, Furze Platt and Pinkneys Green, and Cookham to the north. Each patio is assessed on its own paving and setting.

Questions
Yes. The strip by the doors is cleaned with controlled water and a working direction that moves dirt away from the frames, seals and air bricks. We look at the threshold detail at the site visit so we know where water must not go.
Partly shelter and partly what drains out of the pot. Algae and soil in the ring usually clean away with the rest of the patio. Mineral or rust staining from the container can sit deeper and may only fade, so we assess it separately.
No. Sandstone is cleaned gently to keep its riven texture, while limestone is softer and is cleaned more slowly at low pressure, with any treatment chosen to suit it. Both are assessed for condition before anything is agreed.
Often it can be reduced. Grease that has soaked into porous stone or concrete over several seasons may stay faintly visible, and we would rather tell you that than overwork the slab and leave a pale patch around it.
Yes, where the jointing has washed out or broken down. Re-sanding helps keep the slabs stable underfoot. Joints that need mortar repair rather than sand are pointed out separately, because that is a repair rather than part of the clean.
Typically between 12 and 24 months. A patio under trees or along a shaded fence line will usually sit towards the shorter end, and an open, sunny terrace towards the longer. It slows regrowth; it does not stop it.
