Block Paved Driveway Cleaning in Maidenhead
An overgrown block paved driveway in Maidenhead, cleared by hand, deep cleaned, treated with Chiltern EverGuard™, re-sanded with polymeric sand and compacted.
Driveway Cleaning · 10 towns
Berkshire drives range from low Thames-side villages a short way from our Marlow base to pine-shaded plots around Ascot and the railway and New Town streets beyond. We clean each by its surface and finish with Chiltern EverGuard™.

Two landscapes
Along the Thames, damp air and low ground keep paving wet and green. To the east, around Ascot, Bracknell and Crowthorne, the soil turns sandy and the trees turn to pine, bringing year-round shade and needle litter instead. Between them sit railway towns and newer estates whose drives wear mainly from daily use. Each calls for a different emphasis.
The Thames corridor
From Hurley and Bisham down through Cookham, Maidenhead and Windsor, the Thames runs through a broad, low valley. Mist settles on still mornings, gardens stay damp well into the day, and paving that misses the sun can carry a green film for much of the year. Older villages add walls, hedges and mature planting tight against many drives.
Being close to the river also changes how a clean is run. Rinse water carries silt, loosened growth and spent jointing sand, and on a riverside plot none of it should reach the bank or the borders. We look at gullies, falls and planting first, contain the run-off and use products matched to the surface rather than the strongest available.
Heath and pine country
East Berkshire is different country. Around Ascot, Sunninghill, Bracknell and Crowthorne the ground is light and sandy, and pine woodland and pockets of heath are still part of the landscape. Many homes sit among pines and other conifers, often on generous plots behind gates.
Evergreen trees never drop their whole canopy, so the shade they cast lasts all year instead of lifting each winter. Pine needles shed steadily, slip into joints and gravel and mat together where they settle, holding damp against the surface beneath. Sap from overhanging conifers can also spot paving. Sandy soil drains readily, so on these drives the damp comes from shade and litter more than from the ground, and keeping joints clear matters as much as the clean itself.
Towns by era
The larger towns each grew in a recognisable period. The Great Western Railway shaped Victorian and Edwardian Reading and Maidenhead, where compact frontages often began as narrow strips of concrete or tarmac and were widened later. Bracknell expanded after the war as a planned New Town, and Wokingham and the edges of most towns have since gained developments of block paving, resin and porcelain.
That history shows on the drive itself. Paving laid in different decades can meet in the middle of one entrance, each part weathered its own way, and newer surfaces need a lighter touch than the concrete they replaced. We identify every material before agreeing the method, and refill block-paved joints with Chiltern Polymeric Sand once the surface is clean and compacted.

Every place below has its own character, and each has a driveway page of its own with the full detail. These lines sum up what matters most in each.

Railway-era streets where many drives have been widened or extended over time, leaving old and new paving to be cleaned as separate surfaces.

Protection of the surroundings comes before any water is used, which matters most on plots near the river.
At the free site visit we identify each surface, note where shade, needles or river damp concentrate, and agree access, parking and where the water will go.
Planting, lawns, gate piers and drains are guarded, and run-off routes are set up before cleaning starts, so silt and rinse water go where we intend.
Growth, grime and old jointing sand come away under controlled pressure, with warm water kept for materials that tolerate it and slower passes on resin, porcelain and older tarmac.
Block paving is compacted once dry, then every gap between the blocks is filled with Chiltern Polymeric Sand to stabilise the paving and leave weeds less room.
A final Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment helps reduce the return of moss and algae, typically for between 12 and 24 months depending on setting, surface and upkeep.
Why us
Our base sits just across the Thames from Bisham, so the riverside villages and towns of east Berkshire are close to home for us.
Silt, growth and rinse water are directed away from riverbanks, ponds, borders and drains instead of being left to find their own route.
Older concrete and tarmac, block paving and modern resin are each cleaned at their own pressure, even where they meet within a single drive.
We explain at the site visit what cleaning will improve and what it will not, from deep oil stains to paving that has faded with age.

Questions
Not directly, but they cause problems over time. Needles collect in joints and gravel, mat together and hold moisture against the surface, which encourages moss and weeds. Clearing them out properly is part of every clean we carry out beneath conifers.
Growth needs moisture before anything else, and a riverside drive gets plenty of it: low ground, mist on still mornings and gardens that dry slowly. Paving that stays wet for hours after rain gives algae and moss the conditions they need to spread.
Before cleaning starts we check where the drive falls and where the gullies lead. Run-off is then contained and steered away from the bank, ponds and planting, and the silt it carries is collected rather than washed onwards.
Not always exactly. Cleaning brings each section to its best achievable condition, but paving laid at different times may differ in colour and wear. We point out any difference at the site visit so the result is what you expect.
Yes. Organic growth and staining are removed with care for the colour and pattern, and where the existing sealer has faded, dulled or worn away we offer a resealing service as well.
Often, yes. The Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment typically protects for between 12 and 24 months, and where a drive falls in that range depends on its location, surroundings, surface and maintenance. Heavy shade and constant needle or leaf fall tend to bring regrowth sooner.
