Driveway Cleaning · Berkshire
Bisham lies on the Thames just across the bridge from our Marlow base, below wooded slopes that keep its drives damp. We clean each surface to suit it, keep run-off away from the river and planting, and finish with Chiltern EverGuard™.

Our approach
Cleaning a driveway releases dirty water, silt and loosened growth, and on a riverside plot its route matters. We look at the falls, gullies and planting before anything starts, then contain and direct rinse water away from the bank and the borders instead of letting it find its own way. Treatments are chosen to suit the surface, not for strength.

Bisham setting
Bisham is a small village on the south bank of the Thames, opposite Marlow, with wooded slopes rising behind it. Between the river mist and the shade of the trees, drives here stay damp long after rain, and moss and algae establish readily on the parts that never see the afternoon sun.
Homes range from village cottages and character properties to larger houses set back along private lanes. Older drives are often enclosed by walls and hedges, which shade one edge, while newer ones may combine block paving with resin or porcelain. Access is often down narrow lanes, so where we park and how far hoses need to run are settled at the site visit.
Near the water
Every driveway clean produces dirty water, and a plot close to the Thames gives it an easy route to somewhere it should not go. Before the main clean, we note the direction of fall, any gullies and channel drains, and the beds and lawns that sit downhill of the paving.
The work is then organised so loosened silt and growth are collected and rinse water is directed away from the bank and the planting. The treatments we use are chosen to suit the surface rather than because they are the strongest available.
Walls and hedges
A strip of paving beside a wall or hedge gets less sun and less air than the open drive, and rain splashing off the wall keeps it wet. Algae and fine organic deposits gather in that band until it reads as a dark frame around the drive.
Cleaning it takes control. The paving needs proper attention, but pressure and dirty spray must not be driven into the foot of old brickwork, render or painted surfaces. We work that edge more slowly and at a lower setting than the open surface.
Parked cars
A car that sits in the same spot for months shelters the paving beneath it from rain and sunlight, while the surface around it weathers fully. Move the car and a pale footprint often shows.
Cleaning removes the contamination from both areas and narrows the difference considerably. Where the gap is weathering rather than dirt, some of it may remain, and we tell you that before work starts rather than chase it with extra pressure.
Block paving
On a block-paved drive the weeds and moss follow the joint lines, outlining every block in green. The clean clears them along with the old sand, so once the paving is dry we compact it with a vibrating plate compactor and work Chiltern Polymeric Sand into every joint. It helps stabilise the paving and resists weed growth and joint washout better than conventional kiln-dried sand.
The drive is then finished with the Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment to help slow the return of growth in this damp setting.
Step by step
Five stages, carried out in the same order every time, with the method in each one set by the surface and its surroundings.
We identify the surfaces, the growth and any staining, check the falls and drains, and confirm parking and hose runs where a lane is tight for space.
Loose items are moved, planting is covered and the route for rinse water is set so that it runs away from the bank and the borders.
Each section is cleaned at the lowest pressure that works on its material, with the setting lowered along walls, borders and other vulnerable edges.
Block paving is allowed to dry, compacted with a plate compactor and refilled with Chiltern Polymeric Sand along every joint.
Our protective treatment is applied, the area is tidied and we explain what was done and what to expect as the seasons turn.
Before you book
Cleaning makes a weathered drive look markedly better, but it works on contamination, not on the material itself. We aim to restore the original appearance where the condition allows.
Why us
Our base in Marlow is a short drive away, so the river damp and wooded shade that affect this village are conditions on our own doorstep.
Rinse water and loosened debris are contained and directed away from the river bank and planting rather than left to drain wherever they like.
Wall margins, borders and the strips beside hedges get slower, lower-pressure attention so they finish as clean as the open drive.
Fully insured operatives and a clear statement of works agreed in advance, so there are no surprises on the day.
Nearby
Beyond the village, we restore driveways in Marlow across the bridge, upstream in Hurley and Medmenham, towards Cookham and Cookham Dean, and in Bourne End. Most share the same river damp and tree cover.

Questions
Yes, and we treat it as one. Rinse water is contained and directed away from the bank and the planting, and treatments are chosen to suit the surface rather than for strength. We check the falls and drains at the site visit.
It gets less sun and air, and rain splashing off the wall keeps it wet. Algae and fine organic deposits settle there first. We clean it at a lower setting so the wall itself is not soaked or marked.
Mostly. Cleaning removes contamination from both the sheltered patch and the paving around it, which narrows the difference considerably. Some tonal change caused by long, uneven exposure can remain, because it is weathering rather than dirt.
Usually. Access is a planning question rather than an obstacle. We check where we can park, how far hoses need to run and whether anything needs moving at the site visit, so nothing is improvised on the morning.
Yes, as standard. After cleaning and drying, the drive is compacted and every joint refilled with Chiltern Polymeric Sand, which helps hold the blocks firm and keeps weeds and washout at bay.
Typically between 12 and 24 months, depending on the location, surroundings, surface and maintenance. Below wooded slopes and close to the river, expect the shorter end of that range on shaded sections of the drive.
