Block Paved Driveway Cleaning in High Wycombe
Restoring a 150m² block paved driveway in High Wycombe: deep clean, damaged blocks replaced, polymeric re-sanding, compaction and Chiltern EverGuard™.
Driveway Cleaning · Buckinghamshire
Little Marlow is a small village between Marlow and Bourne End, with open fields around it and the Thames to the south. Country drives here gather wind-blown seed and soil as well as moss, so we clean, re-joint and treat with that in mind.

Why it matters
Moss and weeds struggle to hold on to clean, sound paving for long. What gives them a start is the thin layer of soil, seed and broken-down leaves that settles into joints and textured surfaces. On a drive bordered by fields and hedgerows that layer builds faster, which is why clearing it out properly matters as much as the clean itself.

Village setting
Little Marlow is a village rather than a town, set on lower ground between Marlow and Bourne End with farmland and open space around it and the river beyond. Wind crossing those fields carries dust, seed and plant debris onto anything flat, and hedgerows and mature garden trees add their leaves every autumn. Rural frontages simply collect more organic matter than suburban ones.
The homes are a mix of village houses, cottages, larger family properties and country houses on bigger plots, many approached along a private drive. Entrances often combine materials: a block-paved or tarmac apron near the house, a longer gravel run towards the lane, and planted or grassed margins where the two meet. Each part weathers differently and needs its own care.
Field debris
The organic dust that blows off fields and verges is fine enough to settle into the smallest gap. Within a season it fills the joints of block paving, sits in the texture of tarmac and concrete and holds moisture against the surface. Moss and weeds then have everything they need.
A clean that only brightens the top leaves that rooting layer behind. We clear the contaminated material from joints and margins as part of the work, and on block paving we refill every joint with Chiltern Polymeric Sand after compaction, so there is far less for new growth to settle into.
After the clean
Every driveway we restore is finished with the Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment, our own treatment, applied across the whole surface once cleaning and any joint work are complete. Its job is to help reduce how quickly moss, algae and other organic growth re-establish on the cleaned surface.
It is not a barrier against the countryside. Leaves, seed and dust will still arrive, and a drive beside open fields or under trees will still need sweeping. Chiltern EverGuard™ inhibits regrowth, typically for two to three years, depending on the surface and its environment, and we give you our honest view of where yours is likely to sit.
Mixed entrances
Gravel driveways are treated for weeds, moss and organic debris, and the surface is left tidy. Where gravel meets block paving, tarmac or a lawn, that boundary needs care, because water used carelessly there scatters stones onto clean paving or washes soil across it.
The stages
The sequence is the same for every drive. On a mixed entrance, each material within it is handled in the way that suits it.
We identify every material in the entrance, check joints, margins and drainage, and explain what we expect from each part before any work is agreed.
Weeds, moss and the soil and seed packed into joints and margins are removed, along with leaf debris gathered against walls, fences and hedges.
Paving, tarmac and concrete are cleaned evenly at the lowest pressure that works, with heated water only where a material tolerates it. Gravel is treated and tidied.
Once dry, block paving is settled with a vibrating plate compactor and every joint is refilled with Chiltern Polymeric Sand to hold the blocks firmly.
Chiltern EverGuard™ is applied over the restored surface to help slow regrowth, and we talk you through simple care that stops field debris building up again.
Plain facts
A cleaned, re-jointed and treated drive looks transformed and stays clearer for longer, but it remains part of a country setting. Wind, hedges and trees keep bringing organic matter, so sweeping now and then is part of keeping it right. Cleaning also cannot repair sunken areas, cracked concrete or worn tarmac.
Why us
We remove the soil and seed packed into joints and margins, not only the visible growth, so new moss has less to take hold in.
Gravel, block paving, tarmac and concrete in the same entrance each get the method that suits them, rather than one setting for all.
Applied after every driveway restoration, with a straight answer about how a drive bordered by fields is likely to fare.
Fully insured technicians, careful handling of edges and planting, and the finished entrance checked with you before we go.
Nearby
We clean driveways in the neighbouring villages and hamlets too, including Well End, Flackwell Heath, Wooburn Green and Marlow Bottom, as well as Marlow and Bourne End on either side. Wherever fields and hedgerows border a drive, the same attention to joints and edges applies.

Questions
Yes. Gravel driveways are treated for weeds, moss and organic debris, and the surface is left tidy. Where gravel meets paving or lawn, we work the edge carefully so stones are not scattered onto the clean surface.
Usually because organic matter keeps arriving. On a drive surrounded by fields and hedges, dust, seed and leaves settle into joints and textured surfaces and give moss somewhere to root. Clearing that layer, re-jointing and treating the surface slows the cycle.
Not as readily. Weeds grow in the joint, so we remove the contaminated jointing, compact the paving and refill every joint with Chiltern Polymeric Sand, which resists weed growth better than ordinary kiln-dried sand.
Yes. It is part of every driveway restoration we carry out. Chiltern EverGuard™ inhibits regrowth, typically for two to three years, depending on the surface and its environment.
Yes. Each material is handled in its own way within the same visit: the paving cleaned, compacted and re-jointed, the gravel treated and tidied, and the boundary between them worked carefully.
There is no fixed timetable. Trees, hedges, shade and the surrounding fields decide how quickly growth returns, so condition is a better guide than the calendar. Regular sweeping makes the interval noticeably longer.
