Block Paved Driveway Cleaning in Maidenhead
An overgrown block paved driveway in Maidenhead, cleared by hand, deep cleaned, treated with Chiltern EverGuard™, re-sanded with polymeric sand and compacted.
Driveway Cleaning · Buckinghamshire
Bourne End grew up where the River Wye meets the Thames, and its homes range from riverside houses to newer family developments. That variety reaches the driveways too, so we identify the surface first and clean it on its own terms.

Our view
Block paving, resin-bound aggregate, porcelain, tarmac, plain and pattern-imprinted concrete, natural stone and gravel all take different pressures and different methods. A setting that suits one can mark another. Before anything is agreed, we identify what your driveway is made of, look at its condition and explain how we would clean it and why.

Local homes
Bourne End sits on the north bank of the Thames where the River Wye flows in, with Chiltern slopes rising behind it towards Flackwell Heath. Damp air off the water and the mature trees along the river keep the river-facing side of many properties shaded and wet for longer, and that is usually where a driveway greens up first.
Housing here was built over a long period, so the drives are just as varied. Riverside homes and character houses sit close to family streets and newer developments, and within a short walk you can pass resin-bound, block-paved, porcelain and tarmac frontages. Newer homes most often have concrete block paving, while larger plots may combine several materials in a single entrance.
Surface by surface
Some of the materials found on newer and recently relaid drives are the least forgiving of a heavy hand. Where any of them is already cracked, loose or failing, we say so at the site visit, because cleaning improves contamination but cannot repair the surface itself.
Block paving
The joints in block paving are part of how it works, not just how it looks. A deep clean takes out the dirt, algae, moss and weeds, and with them the remains of the old jointing sand. We let the paving dry, compact it with a professional vibrating plate compactor and then refill every joint with Chiltern Polymeric Sand.
That is our standard on every block paving restoration rather than an optional extra. Chiltern Polymeric Sand helps hold the blocks steady and resists weeds, erosion, washout and freeze-thaw movement better than conventional kiln-dried sand, so the finished drive is firmer as well as cleaner.
Vehicle wear
Cars rarely use a driveway evenly. They follow the same line in, turn in the same spot and stop in the same place, leaving darker tracks of road film and pressed-in grime while the edges stay comparatively clean. Oil drips gather wherever the car is usually parked.
We treat those areas specifically rather than raising the pressure across the whole drive. The last few metres before the garage or front door also get closer attention, because paving, threshold strips, brickwork and steps meet there in a small space, and any splash or missed edge shows.
Our process
These five stages apply to every drive we restore. The equipment and pressures used within them vary with the surface we identified at the visit.
At the free site visit we confirm the material, its condition, joints, drainage and any staining, then recommend a method and explain what the finished drive should look like.
Tyre tracks, oil drips and established growth are treated first, so the general clean can stay at the lowest effective pressure across the rest of the surface.
The drive is cleaned with equipment and pressure suited to its material, so the finish is consistent across the whole surface rather than patchy from one section to the next.
Block paving is left to dry, compacted with a vibrating plate compactor and then refilled joint by joint with Chiltern Polymeric Sand.
Every restored driveway is finished with the Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment, which helps reduce how quickly moss and algae re-establish. Protection typically lasts between 12 and 24 months.
Good to know
A restored drive should still look like its material. Weathered tarmac keeps its age, natural stone keeps its variation, and older concrete may show historic marks once the grime has gone. Cleaning will not lift sunken blocks or repair failed resin, and some deep oil staining can remain as a shadow.
Near the river, damp and shade bring growth back sooner, so occasional sweeping and prompt leaf clearance help the result hold.
Why us
Resin, porcelain, block paving, tarmac, concrete, stone and gravel each get an approach set for that material once we have seen it.
Compaction and Chiltern Polymeric Sand in every joint are part of the standard job, so the paving is left firm and properly finished.
The Chiltern EverGuard™ finish is included on every driveway restoration, with honest guidance on how long it is likely to last on yours.
Fully insured operatives carry out the work, and the method is agreed with you at the site visit rather than decided on the day.
Nearby
We also clean driveways close by in Wooburn Green, Wooburn Moor, Hedsor and Flackwell Heath, and across the river towards Cookham Dean. Many share the same mix of older and newer homes, so the same surface-first assessment applies.

Questions
Yes. Resin-bound surfaces are cleaned at low pressure using methods chosen for resin systems, so the bonded aggregate is not disturbed. Existing cracks or loose stones are pointed out at the site visit, as cleaning cannot repair them.
Yes. Porcelain releases algae, dirt and atmospheric grime readily, so the care goes into the finish: an even result across every slab and clean, consistent joints. It is finished with Chiltern EverGuard™ like any other drive we restore.
Often. Road film and rubber sitting on the surface usually respond to targeted treatment and cleaning. Where the mark is physical wear from tyres turning on the spot, cleaning improves its look but cannot replace worn material.
No. We use Chiltern Polymeric Sand as standard on every block paving restoration, worked into every joint after the driveway has been cleaned, dried and compacted with a vibrating plate compactor.
Yes. Where the existing sealer has begun to fade, dull or wear away, we offer a resealing service, alongside cleaning off the growth and staining with care over the decorative colour.
Yes. It is applied after every driveway restoration. Protection typically lasts between 12 and 24 months, depending on where the property is, its surroundings, the surface and how it is maintained.
Usually, yes. Damp air off the Thames and shade from riverside trees keep that side wetter for longer, and growth follows moisture. Keeping leaves off through autumn helps it stay clearer between cleans.
