Block Paved Driveway Cleaning in High Wycombe
Restoring a 150m² block paved driveway in High Wycombe: deep clean, damaged blocks replaced, polymeric re-sanding, compaction and Chiltern EverGuard™.
Driveway Cleaning · Buckinghamshire
Many Beaconsfield homes sit well back from the road behind a long drive, often laid in more than one material. We plan the access, clean each surface the way it needs and finish the whole length with Chiltern EverGuard™.
Before we begin
The bigger the drive, the stronger the temptation to turn the pressure up and get round faster. That is exactly what strips out joints and scars softer surfaces. We would rather plan the day properly: where the water comes from, where the run-off goes, which section is cleaned first and how the household comes and goes while we work.
Beaconsfield frontages
Beaconsfield has two characters. The Old Town keeps its period buildings along broad main streets, while the newer town to the north grew up after the railway arrived, with large detached houses set in generous gardens. A good number of those homes are reached along private roads or long, curving drives, some behind gates, and many pass beneath mature trees on the way in.
Length brings variety. It is common to find tarmac on the main run, block paving at the turning area or in front of the garage, a strip of gravel by the borders and natural stone at the door. Roadside trees keep parts of the approach damp and leafy, while the open sections nearest the house gather tyre marks and traffic film instead.
Planning the visit
On a long drive the practical questions matter as much as the cleaning itself. We confirm at the site visit where the van can sit, how far the hoses need to run and whether a gate has to stay open. Run-off is directed away from doors, garages and planted borders, and drainage channels are checked so loosened debris does not settle in them.
Every vehicle needs to be off the drive for the visit. On a larger job we agree beforehand which sections will be finished first, so the household knows which parts of the drive are in use and which to keep off.
Mixed surfaces
A drive made of several materials cannot be cleaned at a single setting. We work out where each surface starts and stops, then change the method at every boundary rather than carrying one approach across the whole area.
Tarmac
Moss and algae are the usual reason a tarmac drive starts to look tired, especially along shaded edges and in the strip under overhanging branches. Tarmac does not take the approach that robust concrete will, and older tarmac can lose stones from its surface if it is worked too hard. We clean it at a controlled pressure and take most care at the edges, the kerbs and any patched sections, where it is weakest.
Cleaning will not close cracks, fill potholes or bind a surface that has started to break up. We point those areas out at the site visit so you can decide whether a surfacing contractor should see them first.
Finishing
Once every section is clean, the whole drive receives the Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment, not only the parts that looked worst. Growth tends to creep back from untreated patches, so covering the entire surface gives a more even result as the months go by.
Protection typically lasts between 12 and 24 months, depending on where the property sits, what surrounds it, the surface and its upkeep. On a long approach, the shaded stretch beneath the trees will usually show growth before the open ground near the house.
The process
The order of work never changes, however big the drive. What the site visit settles is the method for each material and the sequence in which the sections are tackled.
We identify every surface on the drive, check its condition, the drainage and any weak areas, and agree the method for each material and the order the sections will be cleaned in.
Each material is cleaned at its own setting, with heated water where the surface tolerates it. Old jointing sand comes out of the block paving along with the dirt and growth.
Weeds are cleared from the joints, and when the block paving has dried it is compacted with a vibrating plate compactor so every block beds back down firmly.
Chiltern Polymeric Sand is brushed into every joint of the block-paved areas. Gravel is tidied, and tarmac and stone sections are checked over before the final stage.
Chiltern EverGuard™ is applied across the whole drive, and we walk the length of it with you to explain what was done on each surface.
Know the limits
A thorough clean makes a significant difference to how a drive looks and how it feels underfoot, and we aim to restore the original appearance where the condition allows. Some things belong to a contractor rather than a cleaner, and we say so plainly.
Why us
Access, water, run-off and the order of work are settled at the site visit, so nothing on a long drive is improvised once the van arrives.
Tarmac, block paving, gravel and stone are each cleaned their own way, even where they meet on the same drive.
Chiltern EverGuard™ goes across every cleaned surface rather than the worst patches alone, so regrowth has fewer places to start from.
Fully insured operatives working to an agreed plan, with the person who assessed the drive accountable for the finished result.
Around the town
We also clean driveways in Seer Green, Jordans, Knotty Green, Forty Green and Wooburn Green, as well as Penn to the north-west. Drives there tend to sit under heavier tree cover, so shade-driven moss is often the main concern.

Questions
Yes. Access, parking and water are confirmed at the site visit so nothing has to be worked out on the day. If the road is shared, it helps to let your neighbours know when the van will be there.
Yes. Gravel sections are treated for weeds, moss and organic debris and left tidy. They are handled as their own part of the job, separate from the hard surfaces either side of them.
Not when the pressure is set for it. Worn tarmac can shed loose stones if it is worked hard, so we keep to what the surface needs and take extra care at edges and patches. Anything already breaking up is pointed out first.
All of it. Chiltern EverGuard™ is applied across every surface we have cleaned, because growth creeps back from untreated areas. Protection typically lasts 12 to 24 months, depending on shade, surface and upkeep.
Usually to a large degree. Specialist treatment significantly reduces most oil staining. Very old marks that have soaked deep into concrete or block paving may not lift completely, and we tell you honestly at the site visit what to expect.
Yes. Cleaning and run-off are directed away from gates, piers, garage doors and rendered walls, and anything that catches splash is rinsed down before we leave the property.
