We clean resin at low pressure, using methods chosen for resin-bound systems, and remove dirt, algae, moss and staining from the surface. Working gently matters, because loosening stones at the surface or marking the resin cannot be undone by a second visit. We look at the condition of your drive at the site visit and tell you what we would do with it before any work is agreed.
Porcelain
Porcelain at the front door, even and safe
Porcelain is dense and hard-wearing, yet over time algae, dirt and atmospheric grime build up on its face. The result is a surface that looks flat and dull and, in shade or wet weather, becomes slippery underfoot, which matters on a path to the front door.
Porcelain cleans up readily. The skill lies in the finish: an even result across every slab, with no lighter and darker patches, and joints that are clean and consistent from one end of the drive to the other. Once it is clean, porcelain is finished with the Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment like every other drive we restore.
Block paving
Keeping a large block-paved area locked together
On a large block-paved drive, the joints carry a great deal of responsibility. The sand between the blocks holds them in place against turning tyres and heavy vehicles, and on a big area even a little loss of sand adds up to movement, weeds and uneven edges.
Cleaning washes the jointing sand out with the dirt, so refilling it is part of the job, not an extra. After the deep clean the drive is left to dry, compacted with a vibrating plate compactor and every joint is refilled with Chiltern Polymeric Sand. On a large area, that step does more than any other to keep the result looking right.

Can a resin-bound drive be cleaned without damaging it?

Why is our porcelain slippery when it is damp?

Can you remove tyre and oil marks from porcelain?
Usually, yes. Porcelain is dense, so most marks sit on the surface and clean off well. Oil that has reached the joints or soaked into a grout line can be harder to shift, and we will tell you at the site visit what to expect.
