Gutter Cleaning · Buckinghamshire
Little Marlow is a small village between Marlow and Bourne End, with open fields, mature gardens and plenty of outbuildings. We clear the gutters on the house and any garage or outbuilding you want included, then test every downpipe.

Clean versus capable
Clearing debris restores a gutter to the capacity it was built with. It cannot make the gutter wider, steepen its fall or add a downpipe. On most homes that capacity is ample. Where a run still overflows once it is clear and flushed, the cause lies in the design or fitting, and repeated cleaning will not solve it. We say so when we see it.

Village and fields
Little Marlow is a small village set among fields and mature trees on the low ground near the Thames. Rooflines here collect material from several directions. Leaves fall from garden trees, but wind also carries seed, chaff, dry leaf fragments and organic dust off the surrounding farmland, and it settles along gutters and in roof valleys on houses with no tree overhead.
The village mixes period cottages, countryside homes and larger family houses, many with detached garages, garden rooms, workshops and other outbuildings. Each outbuilding has its own roof and often its own gutter, sometimes running into a water butt or soakaway. Those smaller runs are rarely looked at until one overflows against a door or a wall.
Outbuildings
A detached garage or garden room may have a small roof, but its gutter collects every leaf from the trees it sits beneath, and outbuildings are often placed at the edge of the garden, closest to hedges and woodland. A short run can take a large volume of water for its length, depending on the pitch and area of the roof above it, and a single outlet blocked with leaves can stop the whole run.
We include any outbuildings you want cleared in the site visit and the quotation, and we look at where each downpipe discharges so the water has somewhere to go once it leaves the gutter.
Gutter guards
Mesh covers and brush inserts keep out some of the larger leaves, and on the right property they help. They do not end maintenance. Fine seed and silt pass through or around them and settle underneath, while leaves gather on top and form a mat that water runs over rather than into.
A guard also hides the inside of the gutter from view, so a build-up can go unnoticed for years. Where guards are fitted, we assess how they are installed and whether the channel beneath can be reached without damaging them. If clearing would mean dismantling a system, we discuss that with you first.
Inside the downpipe
Twigs, moss and decomposed leaf pass through the outlet and travel down the pipe until they meet a bend or an offset, where they lodge. From the ground the pipe looks open at the top and bottom, yet water backs up in the gutter above.
That is why flushing is part of every visit: we run water through each outlet and watch it leave the foot of the pipe. Where the restriction sits deeper, in a gully or an underground drain, it is outside a gutter clean, and we note it so it can be investigated separately.
The visit
Each stage builds on the one before, and nothing is assumed to be draining until we have seen it drain.
We look at the house and any outbuildings, noting each run, guard, outlet and downpipe, and where we can stand around greenhouses, borders, parked cars and narrow side paths.
A pole-fed gutter vacuum draws leaves, seed and silt out of each channel from ground level where the layout allows, keeping ladders away from the roof edge.
Debris gathers where the gutter turns and where it drains, so those points are cleared by hand or vacuum until the outlet is fully open.
Water goes down every outlet so we can watch it leave the bottom of the pipe. A restriction lower in the drainage is noted rather than guessed at.
Loose brackets and parted joints are re-seated where minor, the gutter faces are washed down, and you hear plainly about anything that needs a specialist.
Fair expectations
Most overflow comes from debris, and clearing it is the answer. Some does not, and once the channel is empty and flushed the other causes are much easier to tell apart. We will explain which applies.
Why us
House, garage, garden room and workshop gutters can all be included and agreed at the site visit, so nothing is missed by assumption.
When a clear run still overflows, we say whether it is fall, size or a failed joint, rather than suggesting another clean.
Leaves and silt go into the vacuum rather than onto paths, gravel or flower beds, and they leave with us at the end.
Fully insured, with access around gardens and outbuildings planned during the site visit rather than worked out on the day.
Nearby
Our gutter clearing also takes in Flackwell Heath, Wooburn Green and the lanes and hamlets between Marlow and Bourne End. Homes on the edge of open farmland there tend to collect the same wind-blown seed and leaf.

Questions
Yes. A gutter can pass light rain while holding a thick layer of compacted debris, and only overflow when a heavy shower arrives. Standing water, plants in the channel or dark marks under a joint are earlier signs.
Yes. Detached garages, garden rooms, workshops and similar buildings can be included. We agree which ones at the site visit so they appear on the quotation and nothing is left to guesswork on the day.
Yes. Fine material settles beneath mesh and brush guards, and leaves can mat on top of them. We check how the guards are fitted before deciding how to clear the gutter underneath.
No. It stops overflow caused by debris. If the gutter is undersized, lacks fall or has a failed joint, water can still escape once it is clear, and we will explain which of those applies.
Usually not. Most runs are reached with the pole-fed vacuum from the ground. Ladders are used only where a section cannot be reached or controlled properly from below, and that is planned in advance.
Annually suits many homes, though properties beside fields or under mature trees often benefit from a second visit. Seed and blossom can block gutters in spring and summer, not just in autumn.
