Gutter Cleaning · Berkshire
Homes in Bisham often come with more than one roof: a garage, a garden room, a porch canopy, a stable or a store. We agree every structure at the site visit, clear each run in turn and flush its downpipe.

In short
When people think about gutter cleaning they picture the main house. But a detached garage, a garden office or an old stable has its own gutters, its own outlets and often its own overhanging tree. These smaller buildings are seldom looked at, so their gutters can go years without attention, until a door frame rots or a wall turns green. We list each one in the quotation so the scope is clear.

Bisham properties
Bisham lies on the Berkshire bank of the Thames, across the river from Marlow, with wooded slopes rising behind it. Its homes range from village cottages and character houses to larger residences set in their own grounds, and many of them have garages, outbuildings and garden rooms that have been added over the years.
The woods and the river shape what ends up in the gutters. Leaves, twigs and seed come down from the trees each autumn, and damp air keeps roofs wet, so moss grows and breaks away into the channels. Access is a practical question too: narrow lanes and shared drives decide where we park and how far the vacuum hose has to run, which is why we check it first.
Smaller buildings
Outbuildings tend to sit closer to hedges and trees than the house does, and some have shallow roofs that hold moss and drain slowly. Their gutters often discharge into a water butt, onto the ground or into a soakaway rather than a proper drain, so a blockage shows up as a sodden patch or a wet wall at the base rather than a visible overflow.
We clear them in the same way as the main house and check where each downpipe ends.
Hidden snags
Inside a gutter, the channel is interrupted by the fixings that hold it up. Some designs have straps or internal brackets across the top. Twigs and moss snag on these and build a small dam, and silt settles behind it. Over a season, a run can develop a series of small blockages even when the stretches in between look clear.
That is why we work the vacuum along the full length of every run rather than only at the outlet, and check behind each fixing on the way.
Misleading symptoms
When part of a gutter is restricted, water backs up and travels along the channel until it finds the lowest point it can escape from, often a joint or a slight dip. The splash mark on the wall may therefore be some distance from the actual cause.
Clearing the whole connected run, rather than the section above the stain, removes that guesswork. If water still escapes at the same point afterwards, the problem is in the gutter itself, and we will tell you.
Our process
We plan the order of work at the site visit, so the vacuum and hose are moved as little as possible on a property with several buildings.
We confirm which buildings are included, how each is reached and where each downpipe discharges, and note splits, slipped brackets and failing joints.
Leaves, moss and silt are drawn out along every run with the pole-fed vacuum, from the ground where possible, and from a tower or footed ladder where the layout requires it.
Outlets are emptied of the plug that forms where the gutter narrows, then flushed so we can see water leave each building freely.
Loose brackets and separated joints are re-seated where that will hold. Anything needing new parts, such as a cracked section, is written down for a specialist.
You receive a short note on each structure we cleared, covering the gutters, downpipes and the roof edge above them, plus anything we think needs a closer look.
Know the limits
Emptying the gutters restores their capacity. It does not repair a cracked section, reseal a failed joint, correct poor alignment or clear a soakaway or buried drain that has silted up.
Below wooded slopes and beside the river, leaves and moss arrive every year, so clearing is routine upkeep. We suggest an interval for each building once we have seen how much came out.
Why us
Every building included is named in the quotation, so there is no doubt on the day about which gutters will be cleared.
Lanes, parking and hose runs are checked at the site visit, so the crew arrives prepared rather than working it out on arrival.
Everything removed goes into the vacuum or into bags and leaves with us, rather than ending up in borders, lawns or paths.
All work is carried out by fully insured operatives, with the business owner accountable for every property we visit.

Alongside Bisham we clear gutters in Marlow across the bridge, Hurley and Medmenham upstream, Cookham and Cookham Dean downstream, and Pinkneys Green to the south. Each property is assessed on its own buildings and trees.

Questions
Yes. Detached buildings have their own gutters and downpipes, so we list each one separately in the quotation and clear them on the same visit as the house.
Water backs up along a restricted gutter and escapes at the lowest point it reaches, often a joint or a slight dip. The stain on the wall shows where it left the gutter, which can be some way from the debris causing it.
Yes. A short gutter has little channel to spare, so a small amount of debris at its outlet causes overflow quickly, often right above a doorway. We clear them along with everything else.
Usually not, but we check it first. At the site visit we look at where we can park, how far the hose needs to reach and whether a tower will fit, so nothing is left to chance on the day.
Into the vacuum, or into bags where a run is cleared by hand, and then away with us. Nothing is dropped onto planting or paths, and nothing is washed towards the river.
Yes. We clear the gutter and the downpipe and check that water reaches the butt or diverter. Cleaning out the butt itself, or a soakaway, sits outside a standard gutter clean.
