Driveway Cleaning · Buckinghamshire
Medmenham lies on the Thames between Marlow and Henley, a village of cottages, period houses and larger country homes. Its driveways are often generous and set within gardens, so evenness, the stone itself and care at the edges count for a great deal.

Our priority
On a generous entrance, a striking result in one area means little if the next section is visibly different. Consistency is the real measure: the same depth of clean from the gate to the front door, edges that match the centre, and no light and dark bands where one working session ended and the next began.

Village setting
Medmenham sits on the Buckinghamshire bank of the Thames, with wooded Chiltern slopes rising behind it. The river, the mature trees and the shaded gardens hold moisture around buildings and hard surfaces alike, and every kind of organic growth follows moisture. Quieter parts of a drive here can carry a green or grey film within a few seasons.
The village includes cottages and period properties, riverside residences and larger homes in their own grounds. Their entrances are often more than a parking bay: a sweep of natural stone, setts or block paving between lawns and borders, sometimes with gravel beyond. That makes the material, the size of the area and its edges central to how we plan the work.
Natural stone
Sandstone, limestone, granite and slate each differ in density, texture and porosity, and no two stone driveways are quite alike. We identify the stone at the site visit before choosing the method or the pressure, because what suits a dense granite sett can scar a softer sandstone.
Cleaning removes algae, moss, lichen and staining, and often reveals colour variation that years of grime had muted: warmer and cooler tones, older replacement pieces, natural markings. That variation belongs to the material and is not patchiness left by the clean. We tell you at the visit what we expect to lift and what is likely to stay.
Larger entrances
A big area dries at different rates in sun and shade, and contamination varies from the gate to the house. Working it systematically, in planned areas and in the right order, avoids the start-and-stop bands that show when a clean is rushed. Stain treatment, edge work and joint preparation each happen at the stage they should.
Near the river
Driveways here often sit beside planted borders and lawns, and some properties are close to the river itself. Our approach on every drive is the lowest possible pressure and the least chemical necessary for the right result, and that matters even more in a setting like this. Treatments are chosen for the surface rather than for speed, and put down sparingly, only where they are needed.
The same thinking applies to rinse water and loosened debris. We decide where it will go before the clean starts, so silt, old jointing material and organic waste are gathered up instead of washing into beds or drains.
Process
Five stages, carried out in the same order on every drive. On a larger entrance, each stage is worked through area by area.
We identify the material, whether natural stone, setts, block paving, porcelain or tarmac, and look at joints, drainage, edges and staining before agreeing the method and the expected finish.
The drive is divided into workable areas around shade, drying time and borders, and we decide where rinse water and loosened debris will be gathered.
Each area is cleaned at the pressure and with the method suited to its material, with heated water only where it is tolerated, and edges and transitions done as carefully as the centre.
Block paving is mechanically compacted and every joint is refilled with Chiltern Polymeric Sand, so the jointing is rebuilt as part of the job.
Every restored drive receives the Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment to help reduce regrowth of moss, algae and lichen, and we walk the finished entrance with you.
What to expect
For an established home, the right result is a drive that looks cared for and suits the house and garden around it, not the brightest possible surface. Natural age, weathering and genuine colour variation remain. Cleaning will not repair cracked slabs, loose setts or failed bedding, and deeply absorbed oil or rust may only reduce.
Why us
Sandstone, limestone, granite and slate are each recognised and assessed before any method or pressure is chosen for them.
Planned working areas and careful edges give an even result from the gate to the door, without banding between sections.
The least chemical necessary, sparing application and a planned rinse direction keep borders, lawns and drains looked after.
Fully insured operatives, with the method explained beforehand and the finished entrance walked through with you at the end.
Nearby
We also clean driveways in Hambleden, Frieth and Fingest in the valleys to the north, and in Bisham, Hurley and Remenham along the river. Most share the same shaded, rural conditions, so the same care over stone and edges applies.

Questions
Yes. Sandstone, limestone, granite and slate are each assessed individually, and the method and pressure are chosen for the specific stone and its condition. We tell you at the site visit what should lift and what may remain.
No. Natural stone varies from piece to piece, and cleaning often makes that variation clearer by removing the grime that hid it. That is the character of the material, and we aim to reveal it rather than flatten it.
Yes. We plan the drive in workable areas, allowing for sun, shade and drying time, and work through them in order so the finish is consistent without bands between one section and the next.
No, not when the work is planned properly. We use the least chemical necessary, apply it sparingly and decide where rinse water will go before starting, so beds, lawns and drains are looked after.
Yes. Setts are cleaned with a method chosen for the stone, with attention to the joints between them. Loose or sunken setts are pointed out at the site visit, because cleaning cannot re-bed them.
Not always. Specialist treatment significantly reduces most oil staining, but marks that have soaked deep into porous stone or concrete may remain partly visible. We assess them separately and explain what is achievable before work is agreed.
Typically between 12 and 24 months. A drive in riverside shade beneath mature trees is likely to sit towards the shorter end, and an open, sunny one towards the longer. Location, surface and upkeep all play a part.
