Gutter Cleaning · Oxfordshire
Many Oxford homes sit in terraces and close-set streets where gutters run from house to house and space below is tight. We clear your runs from the ground where possible, keep the debris contained, flush the downpipes and report back.

City rooflines
Along a terrace the gutter can look like a single run, yet it is usually split between houses, with outlets and downpipes that do not line up with the boundaries you see at ground level. We trace where your water actually goes, clear the runs that serve your home and check they drain before we leave.

Oxford homes
Oxford's housing is as varied as any in the county. Victorian and Edwardian terraces fill many inner suburbs, larger villas and family houses stand in areas such as Summertown and Headington, and modern developments sit on the edges. The city has eighteen conservation areas, and on some older stone and brick houses cast iron gutters are still in place.
The Thames and the Cherwell run through the city, and mature street trees, college gardens and parks add leaves to the rooflines around them. Plots are often narrow, with rear extensions built out into small gardens, so the lower gutters at the back of a house are frequently the ones that block, and the ones nobody sees.
Terraces
On a terrace or a pair of semis, a continuous gutter may carry water along several house fronts before it reaches an outlet, or one downpipe may serve two homes. A blockage in front of a neighbour's house can make yours overflow.
At the site visit we trace the falls and outlets, agree which runs are part of the work and, where the problem sits beyond your boundary, tell you so plainly rather than clear someone else's gutter without their say.
Tight spaces
Front gardens in the city can be a few steps deep, and back gardens are often narrow. Debris scooped out by hand tends to land on paths, bins, bikes and the neighbour's side. A pole-fed vacuum draws leaves, moss and silt straight into the machine from ground level, so what comes out of the gutter stays contained and leaves with us.
It also means no ladder leaning against fascias or standing in a small border unless a run genuinely needs one.
Back extensions
Rear extensions, kitchen additions and lean-tos are common on older city houses, and each brings a short gutter at a lower level. It takes water from its own roof and often debris from the main roof above, and it may sit over glass or a narrow side return.
Older fittings
Where cast iron gutters survive, they are cleared without force, because old joints and brackets can crack if levered. Rust, weeping joints and sagging lengths are reported for a specialist rather than adjusted. On stone or listed buildings we do not alter fittings; any change there is a matter for the owner and the local authority.
uPVC, aluminium and steel guttering is cleared in the usual way, and its outer face is washed without abrasives.
Our method
Every house follows the same order. The access for each run, front and back, is agreed with you at the free site visit.
We find where your gutters begin and end, which outlets and downpipes serve your home, and note brackets, joints and lower roofs at the back.
A pole-fed gutter vacuum draws debris out from the ground, keeping it off paths and small gardens. Sections it cannot reach are cleared from a properly footed ladder.
Each channel is flushed and each downpipe run through so we can watch it drain. A pipe that stays slow points to a blockage lower down, which we record.
Loose brackets and parted joints are re-seated where that is a small fix. Anything more is written up rather than patched on the spot.
Green streaking is washed off the outer faces of the gutters, fascias and soffits, and you receive a short summary of the roofline, front and back.
Be aware
We can clear and flush the gutters that serve your home, but if the blockage or fault sits on a neighbour's section, it needs their agreement. Cleaning also cannot mend split lengths, reseal failed joints or reach buried drains.
Why us
Debris goes into the vacuum rather than onto paths, bins and the neighbour's garden, and it leaves the property with us.
We trace which runs and outlets are yours, and tell you plainly if the problem sits on a neighbouring section.
We have worked on homes in Oxford before, and know how terraces, rear extensions and older fittings change the job.
Fully insured operatives, with access for every run, front and back, agreed at the site visit before work starts.
Nearby
We clear gutters across Oxford's neighbourhoods, including Headington, Summertown, Iffley, Marston, Wolvercote and Cowley. Housing changes from street to street, so each home is assessed on its own rather than by area.

Questions
Yes. We trace which section of the gutter and which downpipe serve your home, clear and flush those, and tell you if a blockage further along sits on a neighbour's section.
Then clearing yours alone may not solve it. We show you where the blockage is. If your neighbour agrees, their section can be cleared at the same visit; we only work on a run with its owner's consent.
No. The pole-fed vacuum draws leaves, moss and silt straight into the machine, and anything cleared by hand is bagged. Everything leaves the property with us.
Yes. Lower runs at the back are included, and where they sit over glass or a narrow side return we agree the access in advance. Conservatory gutters are cleared by hand or vacuum.
Yes, where their condition allows. Cast iron is cleared without force, and rust, weeping joints or dropped brackets are reported for a specialist rather than adjusted on the day.
Once or twice a year for most homes. Houses near large street or garden trees fill faster and suit the more frequent end. We suggest an interval once we have seen what came out.
