Solar Panel Cleaning · Oxfordshire
Didcot has grown in stages, from the old village to Ladygrove and Great Western Park, so its solar arrays sit on every kind of roof. We plan each clean around the installation, then wash the glass with pure water and a soft brush.

How we see it
Two arrays with the same number of panels can be completely different jobs. One faces an open drive on a simple roof; the other is split between a main slope and a garage, with a conservatory underneath. We look at the whole installation and the ground around it at a free site visit, and plan the clean from there.

Didcot homes
Didcot has grown through several distinct periods. Older homes remain around the original village and Northbourne, post-war estates followed, and later came Ladygrove and, more recently, Great Western Park. The result is a wider mix of property types than many of the villages nearby, from period brick to modern render and concrete tile.
Solar panels appear across all of them, fitted when a house was built or added later on a main roof, a rear slope, an extension or a garage. Newer homes often have open fronts and straightforward access; older ones may have narrow side passages and later additions. Open land on the edge of town adds wind-blown dust, while gardens and trees bring pollen and bird mess.
Split installations
Some houses have panels on more than one roof slope, or on the main house and a later extension. Those sections belong to one system but rarely age the same way. An upper array in open sky may stay fairly clear while a lower group beside a tree or a neighbouring wall gathers far more debris.
Access can differ too. The upper roof might be within easy reach from the drive while the lower panels sit above a conservatory or behind a fence. We look at every section in turn, so the plan covers the whole installation rather than assuming all the panels are alike.
The bottom edge
Every shower runs down the face of a panel and carries fine dust with it. On a steep roof most of that goes over the edge. On a shallower pitch the water slows, and as it dries against the lower frame it leaves its load behind, building up a dark line that can grow while the middle of the glass looks reasonably clean.
Moss fragments from the tiles above can lodge in the same place. We clear the bottom edge and corners with the soft brush and pure water as part of every clean, using nothing abrasive near the seals.
Even dust
Not every dirty array has obvious marks. Fine dust from open ground and building work nearby can settle evenly over the glass, mix with pollen or dew, and leave the whole array slightly dull. From the pavement it simply looks like a solar panel.
A de-ionised water wash lifts that film and rinses it off, and because the water carries no minerals the glass dries clear without being wiped. The aim is plain, clean glass, with no coating or polish left on the surface.
Our process
Every installation is seen at a free site visit first. On the day, the clean follows the same five stages, section by section.
We note each group of panels, its height, pitch and the ground beneath, plus obstacles such as garages, extensions and conservatories, before choosing where to work from.
The visible state of the glass, frames and edges is looked over, so anything that looks damaged is raised with you before any water is used.
A soft-bristle brush on a water-fed pole, supplied with de-ionised water, loosens dust, pollen, bird deposits and organic residue without detergents.
The lower frames and corners are cleared of grit and moss, then the array gets its final rinse and is left to dry naturally.
From a safe position we review the cleaned array with you and explain anything we noticed that sits outside the cleaning, such as a loose fixing.
What it covers
Our work covers the outer surface of the panels and their accessible frames. Generation depends on orientation, roof angle, season, shading and the equipment as much as on clean glass, so we never put a number on the improvement.
Why us
Split arrays, garage roofs and extensions are each assessed, so the quotation reflects the real access rather than a count of panels.
De-ionised water rinses clean and dries clear, with no detergent, polish or chemical left on the panels or washed into the garden.
We clean from the ground with a water-fed pole wherever the property allows, and nobody stands or walks on the array.
Fully insured operatives, a clear quotation and an honest explanation of anything we saw that needs a different specialist.
Nearby
We also clean solar panels in the villages around Didcot, including Harwell, East Hagbourne, West Hagbourne, Blewbury, Steventon and Sutton Courtenay. Wherever the array is, the site visit and the method are the same.

Questions
Yes. Panels fitted when the house was built are cleaned in exactly the same way as those added later: de-ionised water, a soft brush on a water-fed pole and no chemicals. Newer homes often have straightforward access, which keeps the work simple.
Yes, where both can be reached safely. Each section is assessed on its own at the site visit, because height, angle and the ground beneath can differ, and the quotation covers the whole installation.
Usually, yes. Lower roofs are often easy to reach with the pole, though a conservatory, fence or narrow passage alongside can complicate things. We confirm the approach before you book.
Rain carries fine dust down the glass, and on a shallower pitch it dries against the lower frame and leaves the dirt there. Moss fragments from the roof can lodge in the same place. We clear that edge on every clean.
No. Our service is cleaning only. If you are worried about how the system is performing, or we notice visible damage, a qualified solar installer is the right person to inspect it.
No. De-ionised water is ordinary water with its dissolved minerals removed. Nothing is added, so no residue is left on the glass and nothing harmful runs into your gutters or garden.
Once a year is a good starting point for many homes. Panels near trees, open fields or regular bird perches, or set at a shallow angle, may need cleaning twice a year. The state of the glass is the best guide.
