Soft Wash Treatmentin Bracknell
Across Bracknell's planned neighbourhoods, the first thing to look tired is often the roofline: streaked fascias, grey soffits and green cladding panels. We soft wash them at low pressure, along with the walls below, so the whole elevation comes back evenly.
- Fascias and soffits cleaned
- Cladding treated gently
- The whole run, not a strip

Roofline first
Black streaks on white plastic are rarely just dirt
The dark lines running down uPVC fascias, soffits and gutters are a mix of airborne grime and organic growth, and they cling to the surface. Scrubbing hard scratches the plastic and pressure drives water behind the boards. The right solution, applied at low pressure and rinsed, lifts the streaking and leaves an even finish along the whole length.

Bracknell homes
A planned New Town set among woodland and green space
Bracknell grew substantially as a post-war New Town, laid out in planned neighbourhoods with green spaces woven between them. Those original areas now sit beside later developments and newer homes, while places such as Easthampstead, Binfield and Warfield keep older buildings of their own.
Many homes from the New Town decades and since combine brick with panels of cladding or render, finished with long runs of uPVC fascia and soffit. Woodland around the town and mature planting on the estates shade a lot of elevations, so north-facing walls, side passages and boundaries by hedges often stay damp and turn green.
Fascias, soffits, gutters
An even finish along the roofline
Fascias and soffits are among the most visible parts of a house and among the hardest to reach. Black streaking forms where water runs over the gutter edge, and soffits grey over in the shade of the eaves. Clean one stretch and leave the next, and the difference shows from the street.
We treat the full run as one surface. The outer faces of the gutters, the fascia boards and the soffits beneath are cleaned with a suitable solution and a soft brush on a water-fed pole, then rinsed, so the colour comes back evenly from one end to the other.
Cladding panels
Boards, trims and joints treated gently
Cladding panels between and below windows collect a green film, especially on shaded sides. Timber, fibre-cement and plastic boards all have joints, trims and fixings that should never take a concentrated jet, which can force water behind the boards or lift their edges.
A low-pressure solution deals with the growth while the boards stay undisturbed. Where we see a split board, a loose trim or a failed seal, we report it rather than wash over it, because those are maintenance jobs rather than cleaning ones.
Estate greenery
Shade from the green spaces you enjoy
The green spaces and planting that make the neighbourhoods pleasant also keep many walls out of the sun. Elevations facing a tree belt, side passages between houses and walls behind hedges dry slowly after rain, and that is where algae and dark staining settle first. These are the walls we look at most closely.
- North-facing gable ends and side elevations
- Walls beside shared footpaths and garage courts
- Lower walls behind hedges and close boundary fencing
Walls below
Render and brick beneath the cladding
Below the roofline and the panels, most of these houses are brick, with render on some homes and extensions. Render is cleaned at low pressure so its texture is not scoured, and loose or cracked patches are pointed out before anything is applied. Brick is cleaned with the state of the mortar in mind, and any marks that are not growth are identified rather than chased with a stronger mix.
How we work
From roofline to ground in five steps
We work from the top of the house down, so nothing loosened higher up lands on a surface that has already been cleaned.
- 01
Look along every run
We check fascias, soffits, gutter faces, cladding and walls, note any splits, loose trims or failing render, and agree exactly what is included.
- 02
Protect below
Planting, lawns, glass and paintwork are covered or wetted down before treatment, along with cars, bins and anything else standing close to the walls.
- 03
Treat the roofline
Fascias, soffits and gutter faces are treated with the appropriate solution and a soft brush on a water-fed pole, then rinsed along their full length.
- 04
Soft wash the walls
Cladding, render and brick are treated at low pressure, left to act on the growth and then rinsed down, working from the top of each wall downwards.
- 05
Protect and hand over
The Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment is applied to the clean surfaces, and we show you the result, along with anything we noticed that needs a repair.
Before you book
What cleaning will and will not change
Cleaning removes streaking and growth. It does not change the materials themselves.
- Yellowed or sun-faded uPVC stays the colour it has become
- Split cladding boards and loose trims need replacing, not cleaning
- Cracked render, failed paint and leaking gutters need the right trade
- Shaded walls near trees will see growth return sooner
Why us
Why choose us for your roofline and walls
The full length, evenly
Fascias, soffits and gutter faces are cleaned end to end, so there is never a clean stretch sitting beside a grubby one.
No force on cladding
Boards, joints and trims are treated at low pressure, so water is not driven behind the panels and edges stay where they belong.
Top-down working
We clean from the roofline downwards, so nothing loosened above ends up on a surface we have already finished.
Fully insured
Fully insured operatives, with planting and paintwork protected and a plain note of any splits, loose trims or failing render we spotted.

Questions
Soft Wash Treatment in Bracknell: your questions
Can you remove black streaks from uPVC fascias and gutters?
Yes. The streaking comes off with the right solution and a soft brush, followed by a rinse, leaving an even finish along the run. We do not use abrasive pads or high pressure on plastic.
Will soft washing damage my cladding?
No, not when it is done at low pressure. The solution does the work, so there is no jet forcing water behind the boards or lifting edges. Boards that are already split or loose are reported before we start.
Do you clean soffits as well as fascias?
Yes. Soffits sit in the shade of the eaves and often grey over more than the fascias do. We clean both, together with the outer faces of the gutters, as one continuous run.
Can sun-yellowed plastic be made white again?
No. Yellowing is a change in the plastic itself rather than a stain on it, so cleaning will not reverse it. Removing the grime does make the true colour clear, and we tell you at the site visit what to expect.
Why do the walls facing the green space go green first?
Because trees and planting shade them and slow their drying after rain. Algae needs moisture above all, so the cooler, shadier walls are where it establishes first and where it comes back soonest.
Is Chiltern EverGuard™ applied to cladding and render too?
Yes. The Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment goes onto the clean surfaces at the end of every soft wash. It helps reduce regrowth, and protection typically lasts between 12 and 24 months, depending on shade and exposure.
