Driveway Cleaning · Buckinghamshire
Aylesbury sits out in the open Vale below the Chiltern escarpment, and many of its drives see more sun than shade. Here the grime is more often tyre marks, traffic film and weeds in the joints than thick moss, and we clean for that.

The starting point
A shaded drive under trees and an open drive on a newer estate can both look tired, for quite different reasons. One is covered in living growth, the other in a grey film of road dirt, rubber and residue. We identify which we are dealing with at a free site visit, because the two are removed in different ways.

Aylesbury homes
Aylesbury is the county town, set on lower, flatter ground in the Vale of Aylesbury with the Chiltern escarpment rising to the south. Its historic centre has older buildings and conservation-area streets, while districts such as Walton carry traditional brick and slate-roofed houses. Away from the centre, many plots have fewer tall trees around them than the wooded Chiltern towns.
The town has also grown a great deal, from post-war estates to large newer developments such as Fairford Leys and Watermead. Driveways on those streets are commonly block paving, pattern imprinted concrete, tarmac or resin, often with cars parked in the same spot every day. That repeated use is what shows first: darker parking bays, tyre tracks and joints that have lost their sand.
Traffic film
Every car brings road dirt onto the drive. Fine grit, rubber from the tyres and oily residue settle into the texture of the surface, darkest where the cars park and turn. On pale block paving or concrete, the outline of a parking bay can become obvious, while the rest of the drive looks merely grey.
Traffic film is a surface deposit rather than living growth, so it responds to a thorough, even clean. Where the material tolerates it, we use heated water to help shift greasy film without turning the pressure up. The aim is an even finish across the whole drive, not clean stripes with darker ground in between.
Oil marks
Oil is different from ordinary dirt because it soaks into the surface rather than sitting on top. How much comes out depends on the material, how porous it is and how long the mark has been there. With specialist treatment we can significantly reduce most oil staining.
Imprinted concrete
Pattern imprinted concrete gets its colour and sheen from a sealed surface. Over time that sealer fades, dulls or wears away in the places cars use most, and the drive starts to look patchy even when it is clean.
We remove organic growth and staining with care over the decorative colour and finish, since this is a surface where too much force shows. Where the existing sealer has begun to fade, dull or wear through, we also offer a resealing service, which we will discuss with you at the site visit once we have seen its condition.
Estate block paving
On block paving that gets plenty of sun, weeds in the joints are often the main problem rather than moss. Seeds settle into sand that has worn low, root down and push the gaps wider each season. Pulling them out without refilling the joints only clears space for the next lot.
After the deep clean, weeds and organic matter are cleared from the joints and the dry paving is compacted with a vibrating plate compactor. Every joint is then filled with Chiltern Polymeric Sand, which helps stabilise the blocks and gives the joints better protection against weed growth and washout.
Our process
Every drive follows the same order of work, whatever it is made of. The method within each stage is the part we tailor, and it is set before the day.
At the site visit we identify the material, look at how it is wearing and work out whether we are dealing with growth, traffic film, oil, a tired sealer or a mix of them.
The drive is cleaned at a setting suited to its material, with heated water where that is appropriate, and with particular attention to the parking bays and turning areas.
Oil marks receive specialist treatment, weeds are cleared from the joints, and dry block paving is settled with a vibrating plate compactor ready for fresh sand.
Block-paved drives have every joint refilled with Chiltern Polymeric Sand. Imprinted concrete that needs it can be resealed as agreed at the site visit.
The Chiltern EverGuard™ Treatment is applied across the cleaned drive, and we go over the result with you before we pack up and leave.
Fair expectations
Most drives show a significant improvement, and we aim to bring back the original appearance where the condition allows. Cleaning cannot replace colour that has faded from the blocks themselves, lift a stain that has become part of the concrete or level paving that has sunk under years of parking. An open, sunny drive often keeps its result longer than a shaded one, and Chiltern EverGuard™ protection typically lasts between 12 and 24 months.
Why us
Traffic film, oil, weeds and growth are each tackled in the way that suits them, rather than with one method aimed at everything.
We clean pattern imprinted concrete with care for its colour and finish, and offer resealing where the old sealer has worn.
Compaction followed by Chiltern Polymeric Sand gives block paving firm, full joints that are slower to let weeds back in.
Fully insured operatives, a clear statement of what is included before you agree, and the person who assessed the drive accountable for it.

We also clean driveways in Bierton, Bedgrove, Stoke Mandeville, Weston Turville and Stone, as well as across the town's newer districts. Drives there range from older village frontages to recent estate block paving.

Questions
Yes. Where the existing sealer has started to fade, dull or wear away, we offer a resealing service. We look at the condition of the concrete and the old sealer at the site visit and explain what we would recommend.
Because the joints have room for them. As jointing sand wears low, seeds settle in the gaps and root. Clearing the weeds, compacting the drive and refilling every joint with Chiltern Polymeric Sand leaves far less space for them to return.
Not always. Specialist treatment significantly reduces most oil staining, and fresher marks generally respond better than old ones. Very old stains that have soaked deep into concrete or block paving may not lift fully, and we tell you honestly at the site visit.
Yes. Sunny drives collect less growth, but algae and moss still settle in joints, edges and any shaded corner. Every driveway we restore is finished with Chiltern EverGuard™, and an open drive tends to sit towards the longer end of its 12 to 24 months.
Yes. We clean drives across the town, including Fairford Leys, Watermead and the other newer districts, where block paving, imprinted concrete and resin are all common. The method is set for each surface at the site visit.
Tyre marks and traffic film are surface deposits, so a thorough, even clean removes most of them. Heated water helps on materials that tolerate it. The aim is a consistent finish across the drive rather than a clean patch where the car stood.
