Solar Panel Cleaning · Buckinghamshire
High Wycombe fills a steep-sided valley, so panels sit on everything from terraced streets near the centre to houses cut into the hillsides. We plan access around the slope and clean with de-ionised water and a soft brush.

Why it matters
Cleaning solar glass is simple in principle: pure water, a soft brush and patience. The difficult part is reaching it without standing on the array or the roof. In a town where gardens drop away steeply and houses sit above or below the road, that question is answered house by house at the site visit, not on the day.

High Wycombe homes
High Wycombe grew along the valley of the River Wye, with Victorian and Edwardian terraces close to the centre and later housing climbing the hillsides on both sides. Some streets run steeply uphill, and many homes sit above or below the road with stepped gardens behind them.
That mix means arrays on all sorts of roofs and at all sorts of heights, and the shape of the valley affects how they soil. Homes near the main roads collect a grey film of traffic grime, while houses backing onto the wooded upper slopes see more droppings, leaves and moss. Aspect varies a great deal from street to street, so two neighbouring arrays can look very different.
Reaching the array
A water-fed pole lets us clean most domestic arrays from the ground, but the ground has to cooperate. Where a garden falls away steeply, the pole has further to reach; where a house sits above the road, there may be little level space to stand.
We look at the working area as carefully as the panels, and confirm before booking where operatives will stand and how the hose will run. If an array cannot be reached safely from below, we explain that and agree an alternative rather than improvise on the day.
Road grime
Exhaust and tyre particles from busy roads settle as a fine, slightly oily grey layer. It is less obvious than bird droppings but more widespread, covering the whole array evenly, and because it is oily, rain beads on it rather than washing it off.
A soft brush with plenty of de-ionised water breaks that film down without detergent. It may take more passes than a dusty panel, but it does not need anything stronger.
Upper slopes
Houses higher up the valley sides often back onto woodland, and their arrays collect what the trees and birds leave behind. Shaded arrays on slopes facing away from the sun tend to need the most attention.
Our method
The cleaning method stays the same on every roof. Access is the variable, which is why it is agreed at the free site visit.
We check the array's height, pitch and condition, then the ground around the house: slopes, steps, walls and planting, and where an operative can stand safely with a pole.
De-ionised water is pumped through a long pole to a soft brush that loosens traffic film, droppings and dust. All of it is done from below wherever access allows.
Moss, leaf litter and grime are worked out of the lower frame and its corners, so water can run off the glass freely after rain.
A final pure-water rinse carries everything away, and the panels dry naturally. Nothing is wiped across the glass, which is how it dries clear.
We tell you what we saw, including anything that is a matter for an installer, such as a cracked panel, a loose clip or a damaged cable.
Realistic outcomes
We remove what sits on the glass and the frames. We do not test the system, and we do not promise a rise in generation, because that depends on how dirty the panels were, the weather and the installation.
Why us
We have worked on homes in High Wycombe and know how its slopes, stepped gardens and tight frontages affect access.
Where operatives stand and how the hose runs are settled at the site visit, so the clean goes ahead safely on the day.
No detergents, chemicals or high pressure touch the glass, frames or seals, and nothing harmful runs into the garden.
If your panels do not need cleaning yet, or a problem belongs with your installer, we tell you plainly.
Nearby
We also clean panels in the villages and suburbs around the town, among them Hazlemere, Downley, Hughenden Valley, Loudwater, Flackwell Heath and Booker, where hillside access is often just as much of a consideration.

Questions
Often, yes. A long water-fed pole reaches most domestic arrays from the ground, including from a raised garden or a driveway below the house. Where there is nowhere safe to stand, we explain the options at the site visit.
Usually it is traffic film: a fine, oily layer from passing vehicles that covers the whole array evenly. It is easy to miss from the ground but shows in low sun, and a soft brush with pure water removes it.
No. High pressure is unsuitable for glass, seals and the electrical parts behind the panel. De-ionised water through a soft brush does the work, with extra passes where traffic film or droppings are heavier.
Once a year is typical. Arrays near main roads, under trees or set at a shallow angle may need it twice. We will suggest an interval once we have seen how quickly yours seem to soil.
Possibly, if the panels are heavily soiled, but not if the cause is a fault. A sudden drop with clean-looking panels points to the inverter, the wiring or a failed panel, which your installer should check. We clean the glass; we do not diagnose systems.
No. The panels are rinsed with de-ionised water only and left to dry naturally. With no minerals or detergent in the water, there is nothing left behind to dry into spots or streaks.
