The town

Towers, Victorian parades and working estates

Woking lies about 32 miles from our base in Marlow, by the M4 and the M25, leaving at junction 11 for the A320. The town grew around its railway station, opened in 1838, and its commercial property now runs from high-rise offices and residential towers to Victorian shopping parades, business estates, schools, care settings and managed blocks.

Town centre
Woking has some of the tallest buildings in Surrey, including the towers at Victoria Square, completed in 2022, and office blocks such as Export House. Curtain walling, cladding and podium-level entrances are surveyed for what can be reached safely, and the work is phased around footfall.
Victorian core
North of the station, Chapel Street, the Broadway, part of the High Street and Chertsey Road form the town centre conservation area: shopping parades laid out after the London Necropolis Company sold the land in 1859, in red brick with decorative detail.
Sheerwater and Goldsworth Park
The employment area at Sheerwater, on Forsyth Road and Monument Way, has industrial and warehouse units from the 1980s onwards, and the Goldsworth Park Trading Estate, west of the centre, has trade counters and warehouses. Yards and loading doors stay in use during the work.
Local conditions
The Basingstoke Canal runs through the town, and the heath and woods around Horsell and Brookwood shade buildings and drop needles and leaves into gutters. Traffic on the A320 and A245 marks the roadside fronts.
Around Woking
Horsell, Knaphill, St Johns, Old Woking, Byfleet, West Byfleet, Pyrford, Mayford and Brookwood.

Safety and site control

Planned before we arrive

Roofs
We identify the roof covering before any work is proposed and request the asbestos register. Asbestos-cement and fragile roofs are never pressure-washed or walked on.
Wash water
We plan wash-water control and drain protection for every site.
Listed and conservation buildings
We use test areas and low-pressure methods on listed and conservation-area buildings.
Schools and care settings
We work in school holidays and INSET days, or behind exclusion zones away from pupils and residents.

Questions

Common questions

Can offices in the town centre stay open during the works?

Yes. Entrances, footways and podium areas are cordoned one zone at a time, and work can run early or out of hours where footfall is heavy.

Do you clean industrial units at Sheerwater?

Yes. One survey covers the units' cladding, roofs, gutters and yards, and the yard work is timed around deliveries and loading doors.

Can you clean the Victorian brick fronts in the conservation area?

Yes. The brick, decorative detail and any painted surfaces are recorded first, and a test area is agreed before the rest is cleaned at low pressure.

How soon can a Woking site be surveyed?

Within five working days. The site survey is free.

What should we include in the request?

The address, the property type, the surfaces and heights involved, access limits and timing. If roofs or gutters are part of it, the asbestos register and drainage drawings too.
