The county

Over the county boundary from Marlow

Chiltern Surface Co Ltd is based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Berkshire begins at Bisham, on the far side of Marlow Bridge, and the A404 runs from Marlow to the M4 at Maidenhead.

Berkshire's commercial property includes town-centre premises, hotels, offices, shops, business parks, warehouses, schools, care settings, managed developments and riverside or more rural sites. Exposure, traffic, nearby trees, shade and building use all influence how an exterior becomes marked or weathered, so we survey the surfaces and site conditions before we specify the work.

Offices and business parks
Reading, Bracknell, Maidenhead and Slough lie along the M4 corridor, with offices and business parks such as Green Park on the edge of Reading. Entrances, reception approaches and street-facing elevations usually take priority over service sides, and the specification accounts for the rooflines, signage and drainage that mark them.
Warehouses and industrial estates
On the industrial estates around Slough, Reading and Bracknell, cladding, entrance elevations, loading-side surfaces, gutters and rooflines collect traffic film, organic growth and atmospheric grime, with runoff staining beneath roof edges and fixings.
Hotels and venues
Windsor, Ascot and the Thames-side towns have many hotels and event venues, where exterior presentation must be balanced with the comfort and movement of guests. Façades, canopies, entrance paths and surrounding hard surfaces can be specified together, as one arrival route.
Historic centres
Parts of the Windsor and Reading town centres are conservation areas with listed buildings. Where previous coatings, joints or sensitive details leave the method in doubt, a test area comes before wider cleaning; façade restoration covers listed and conservation-area work.
Managed property
Where an enquiry covers a managed development or several sites, each property is surveyed and specified on its own; multi-site and portfolio contracts bring them under one standard.

Safety and site control

Planned before we arrive

Roofs
We identify the roof covering before any work is proposed and request the asbestos register. Asbestos-cement and fragile roofs are never pressure-washed or walked on.
Wash water
We plan wash-water control and drain protection for every site.
Listed and conservation buildings
We use test areas and low-pressure methods on listed and conservation-area buildings.
Schools and care settings
We work in school holidays and INSET days, or behind exclusion zones away from pupils and residents.

Questions

Common questions

Which parts of Berkshire do you cover?

We cover sites across the county, including Maidenhead, Windsor, Ascot, Reading, Slough, Bracknell, Wokingham, Cookham, Twyford, Bisham, Hurley and surrounding communities. For a site near the county boundary, give the full address or postcode so we can confirm coverage.

Can the work be planned around an operating warehouse or hotel?

Yes. At a warehouse the survey records delivery bays, loading doors and vehicle routes; at a hotel, guest routes, arrival times, events and outdoor seating. Works are phased zone by zone behind agreed exclusion areas, so access can be maintained wherever the site conditions allow, and out-of-hours working is available.

Can all exterior stains be removed?

No. The achievable result depends on the depth and nature of the staining within the substrate. Where complete removal cannot be guaranteed, this is identified before works begin and the expected improvement is set out clearly.

Do you offer one-off and planned maintenance work?

Yes. Some sites need a one-off project, others planned preventative maintenance (PPM). Where the asset warrants it, the completion report ends with a PPM proposal and a suggested review cycle, set by the surface, exposure, property use and how quickly soiling returns.

What information should I provide?

The full site address, property type, surfaces involved, photographs if available, access or operational constraints and your preferred timeframe. For roof or gutter work we also ask for the site's asbestos register and drainage drawings.
