The problem

Presentation on a site that keeps trading

A dealership exterior frames the vehicles, the brand and the buying experience. Weathered façades, marked forecourts, organic growth, blocked gutters and untidy customer approaches can make an otherwise well-presented site look neglected before a customer reaches the showroom.

The areas that most need attention are also in daily use for customer access, test drives, stock movements, deliveries and workshop traffic. The buildings often combine coated cladding, render, glazing surrounds, brickwork and roof coverings, with concrete and block paving outside, and excessive pressure can affect finishes, joints and vulnerable substrates.

For showroom managers, facilities teams and property managers, much of the burden sits around the work: keeping the site trading, agreeing what is included and showing what was done. Chiltern Surface Co takes responsibility for the survey, specification, mobilisation, delivery and handover, so the exterior becomes a problem you hand over rather than another task to manage.

Customer access and test drives
Showroom entrances, pedestrian routes and vehicle exits stay in use through the trading day. We take account of how customers and vehicles move through the site when we define the work areas and sequence the works.
Stock display and forecourts
Display vehicles, customer parking and sales activity limit access to forecourts and frontage areas. We agree priorities and practical access arrangements with you at the survey.
Workshops and service operations
Service lanes, workshop approaches, parts deliveries and vehicle handovers run differently from the customer-facing showroom, so we specify and programme these areas separately.
Different zones and priorities
A branded entrance may need a different priority from a rear yard, workshop elevation or roofline. On larger sites we recommend starting with the entrance, showroom frontage and prominent customer routes, then moving to workshop elevations and lower-priority areas. Works are phased zone by zone behind agreed exclusion areas, so access can be maintained wherever the site conditions allow.

What we do

Showrooms, buildings and forecourts

One specification of works can address a single concern or bring several services together. At the survey we identify each surface and its contamination and, where it helps, discuss a test area with you. We then specify the pressure, water flow, cleaning products and application technique.

Showroom and workshop buildings

  • Showroom and workshop buildings

    Façade cleaning

Atmospheric soiling, organic growth and visible staining on showroom and workshop elevations, with priority given to the surfaces around prominent signs, canopies and customer entrances.

  • Showroom and workshop buildings

    Cladding cleaning

Coated metal and other cladding systems around showrooms, workshops and commercial units.

  • Showroom and workshop buildings

    Render and masonry cleaning

Render, brick, stone and masonry elevations, including soft washing on render.

Roofs and high level

  • Roofs and high level

    Roof cleaning

Moss, algae and other biological growth on roofs, specified once the covering, condition, drainage and access have been surveyed.

  • Roofs and high level

    Gutter and high-level cleaning

Gutters and outlets flushed with our van-mounted flushing system, with the debris removed before flushing.

  • Roofs and high level

    High-level access cleaning

Sign surrounds, canopies and upper elevations reached from the tracked spider lift we own and transport to site.

Forecourts and hard surfaces

  • Forecourts and hard surfaces

    Pressure washing

Controlled pressure washing for customer paths, forecourts and entrance areas, where the material suits it.

  • Forecourts and hard surfaces

    Car park and walkway cleaning

Customer parking, walkways and approaches: the routes customers use before they reach the showroom.

  • Forecourts and hard surfaces

    Industrial yard and warehouse cleaning

Rear service yards, used-car sites and vehicle compounds, with the work planned around stock storage and vehicle movement.

  • Forecourts and hard surfaces

    Oil stain and contamination removal

Residual oil and fuel staining on forecourts, workshop approaches and service areas, treated after the event.

One-off, planned and dealer-group work

  • One-off, planned and dealer-group work

    Planned preventative maintenance (PPM)

A one-off clean before a launch, dealership event, inspection, rebrand, handover or seasonal sales period, or a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) proposal that sets priorities for each part of the site rather than one cycle for all of it.

  • One-off, planned and dealer-group work

    Multi-site and portfolio contracts

Dealer groups and multi-franchise sites: one contact, one standard, site-specific specifications and consolidated reporting.

Included on the project

Safety and site control

Planned before we arrive

Roofs
We identify the roof covering before any work is proposed and request the asbestos register. Asbestos-cement and fragile roofs are never pressure-washed or walked on.
Wash water
We plan wash-water control and drain protection for every site.

Questions

Automotive exterior cleaning questions

What exterior areas can be included?

Façades, render, cladding, roofs, gutters, sign surrounds, entrances, paths, forecourts, and suitable parking, workshop approach or service areas. We confirm the exact areas in the specification of works after surveying the site, and the proposal lists anything excluded.

Can the work be phased around trading and vehicle movement?

Yes. Before mobilisation we agree with you how customer access, test drives, vehicle movements, deliveries and workshop operations will continue, then phase the works zone by zone around them. Out-of-hours working is available where the site needs it.

Can you clean a dealership forecourt?

Yes, where the surface suits it. The paving material, staining, drainage, parked vehicles and access requirements are surveyed before a method is specified. Where oil or fuel staining is present, the achievable result depends on its depth and nature, and the expected improvement is set out before works begin.

Is pressure washing suitable for cladding and render?

No, not in every case. Soft washing is used on commercial render, and more delicate elevations may need a lower-pressure or alternative approach.

Can several dealership sites be surveyed?

Yes. Each dealership is surveyed and specified on its own surfaces, condition, access and brand presentation priorities, then brought into one phased or coordinated programme.

What do we receive when the work is complete?

A completion report: the works completed against the specification, before-and-after photography, a defect schedule, any items outside the specification that need your attention, and sign-off. Where justified, it ends with a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) proposal and a suggested review cycle, based on traffic, exposure, surrounding vegetation, surface finish and the presentation standard the site needs.
